![]() Am I right on this? Eventually I will need to find out who sells these codes at a lower price to enable android auto on my car. But I think e-sys will allow me to enter FSC activation codes but not bimmercode. So far I have only used bimmercode to connect to my i4, and changed the turn signal from 3 to 5 blinks. Do you have a link to download the latest e-sys that will work with MGU21 ID8? Or should I be using another tool and not e-sys? Hello - If you could help me start my coding journey on my i4 I'd really appreciate it. HKFM2 - Open/Close Rear Tailgate from Keyfob & Interior Door button with 0 sec delay HU_MGU21 - Speedlocks off, legal disclaimers off I did much of my "standard USA BMW coding" already successfullyīDC-BODY3 - BFD, Fog lights with high beams/parking lights only allowed & Auto Window with door open coding The Headunit MGU21 has coding data present in ray and should be codeable, so my projection is that the entirety of i4 ECUs should be codeable too I mocked up the coding data for my incoming iX based on an FA I created from my vin and build sheet. I hope the i4 didn’t go the way of iX, and that most ECUs will still be coding 1.0 with offline signing ability we have been used to for years In disappointing news, the iX doesn’t have many code-able ECUs as the psdzdata is missing the cafd files needed and most of these ECUs are coding 2.0 where it requires server side authentication for signing and coding. I’ll have my moms i4 e40 next Tuesday so I will begin playing with the coding on it then. These codes are unique to the VIN of each vehicle, so no use duplicating the codes for others once obtained.įortunately the i4 is still a g26 and most of the 3/4 series ECUs should be in this vehicle. BTW some features like Apple Carplay / Android Auto are chargeable features from BMW, so we need to buy "FSC Activation codes" from resellers. I could be wrong (as I haven't actually gone ahead and do it yet, still in my research stage), and I will do yet another edit if I am in fact wrong. Also, my approach above SHOULD work, although I will still have to pay someone some money to get Apple Carplay / Android Auto (doesn't have to be that local shop I mentioned above, could be any reseller of FSC activation codes). Go get a cheap ENET cable for your coding needs. INPA / K+DCAN cable is NOT used for latest BMWs. like me 2 months ago) bump into this thread. 100% positive I can't use bimmercode with that)Įdit: Thought I'd do a quick update with the knowledge I have gathered over this period, in case other new joiners with zero coding knowledge (i.e. (btw I still have that IMPA / K+DCAN USB cable for my now-sold E90, but it connects to a PC via USB, and not sure whether it can be used on the i4. Or maybe all I need is bimmercode (or some other software) instead of e-sys to achieve the same thing.? Or even start offering the service myself to others to recoup some of the cost.ĭoes this approach sound feasible? I have very limited knowledge on e-sys unfortunately (only did some very basic mods to my previous 2010 E90 BMW to change number of blinks on lane changes etc, don't even remember if I used e-sys or some other tools available for Windows at the time), so I have no clue if this will have a chance of working. In future I can DIY if BMW updates the firmware on my i4 and carplay is wiped away. Then I have the answer myself on how to code. I once again connect my i4 to e-sys and dump ALL data again, then "diff" the files to identify exactly what changes were made to which modules.Ĥ. Go to that local shop to pay for the codingģ. I use e-sys to dump ALL data from to car to my computer.Ģ. ![]() I purchase a compatible OBD2 adapter, and connect my i4 to e-sys. I am wondering if the following can be done:ġ. ![]() Of course this shop is asking for an insane price to have it coded (and re-coded in case the changes are wiped away after an OTA update). They even have demo youtube videos as proof of successful coding. But as of late, a local car shop has started advertising about their coding service to activate carplay on the i4. ![]() Here in Hong Kong none of the i4's are delivered with Apple Carplay and Android Auto enabled.
